AIA Oregon Digital Design Series - Hennebery Eddy Architects

“Designing for Energy and Carbon Reduction – Bend Science Station” CEU Pending

Dan Petrescu, AIA and Ashley Nored, IIDA, Associates at Hennebery Eddy Architects, Inc., will present on the Bend Science Station, recipient of the 2020 Oregon Architecture Awards 2030 Award. This project is located on the OSU Cascades campus in Bend, Oregon and serves approximately 7,000 students, 200 teachers from nearly 40 schools from across Deschutes County annually. The lab building embodies the non-profit’s mission of empowering students to make discoveries not possible in the regular classroom by engaging with tools, technology, and the freedom to ask and answer their own questions. Sustainable building features include passive ventilation, building orientation, material selection, solar rooftop array, and efficient HVAC and heat recovery ventilation. Alen Mahić, from University of Oregon’s Energy Studies in Buildings Laboratory will provide updates on the 2030 carbon calculator and technical instruction for inclusion on projects.
